Chaenomeles are also known as Japanese Quince and produce beautiful flurries of blossoms for early spring colour. Blooms are sometimes followed by green or yellow quinces which can be made into a delicious jelly.

Chaenomeles is an incredibly easy shrub to grow in virtually any soil type. You can also train it to grow up a shady wall and its blooms are attractive to bees looking for an early meal.
