To get started, you’ll need:
- An old plastic flowerpot
- Glue gun (optional)
- PVA glue
- Acrylic paint in a variety of colours
- Coloured beads
- String
- Scissors
- Metal spoons (x4)
- Duct tape
- Metal fork (x1)
Step 1: Decorating your plant pot
- Find a small plastic plant pot
- Turn your pot upside down and paint around the rim with a colour you like
- Once it's dry, decorate the pot with flowers, swirls, spots or anything you like!
- To waterproof your plant pot, paint it with a layer of PVA once your decorations have dried
Step 2: Attaching the cutlery
- Find four old metal spoons and one fork to use
- Tie a piece of string in a double knot around the middle of each spoon
- Cut the pieces of string to a length you're happy with
- Now do the same thing with your fork, but cut this piece of string 1-2cm shorter than the others
Step 3: Adding the beads
- Spread PVA glue over the string holding the spoon, then thread on as many colourful beads as you want
- Repeat the last step until there are beads on all the pieces of string
- Leave the glue to dry
Step 4: Putting your windchime together
- Thread a loop through the central hole of your plant pot,
then tie a double knot - Use glue to secure the knot in place
- Stick the top of each spoon's string to the inside of your
pot using duct tape - Space your spoons evenly in a circle
- Tape the fork's string so that it hangs in the middle of
the your spoons - Hang your new wind chime outside and enjoy its
relaxing sounds!
We’d love to see your finished wind chime!
