We collect information about you when you:

- Register with and buy products or services on our website or through our app
- Join Club Plus on our website
- Transact in-store or on our website using your account and/or membership card
- Book an event in-store or on our website
- Take part in promotions, competitions, customer surveys and questionnaires

- Visit the store and are captured on our CCTV system
We may supplement the information we collect about you with information we receive from other sources e.g. public registers such as the electoral roll. This allows us to assess the accuracy of the information we hold about you in order to send you relevant offers and information.
We will only use your personal information where we have a lawful basis for doing so. Most commonly, we use your personal information for the following reasons:
- Where we need to fulfil the contract we have entered into with you
- Where we need to comply with a legal obligation
- Where it is necessary for legitimate business interests, provided that our own interests do not override your privacy rights
- In limited circumstances, with your explicit consent. This mainly relates to direct marketing activities if you have opted in to receive these communications
Collecting your personal information helps us to better understand your needs. We use your information to:

In performing checks in relation to applications for financial products, your information may be disclosed to credit reference agencies, who may keep a record of that information. This is not a credit check and your credit rating will be unaffected
We may share your personal information with approved third parties who support our operations so we can improve your online and in-store experience. Please note that these third parties are contractually bound to process your data.
We may use and share anonymised information with approved third parties. However, we would like to reassure you that this never includes your personal information. This means that the data we share never includes your name, address, or any other personally identifiable information.
You maintain various rights in relation to the personal data we hold on you. Please see the ‘Your Rights’ section of this notice for more information on these.
Any personal information that we process for any of the purposes mentioned above will not be kept for longer than is necessary to fulfil that purpose.
If you close your account with us, we may keep a record of that contract for up to 3 years. We may also keep records of financial transactions in line with our financial reporting obligations. We may retain other information where we have a legal or regulatory obligation to do so.
By joining Club or Club Plus, you can opt-in to receive access to exclusive offers and benefits.
You can opt out of marketing communications at any time by contacting us directly or by updating your details on our website. You can also opt out of marketing emails by clicking unsubscribe at the bottom of a Dobbies marketing email. Please note, if you opt out you may not receive certain benefits.
After opting out, we will continue to contact you to provide you with service information in relation to your Club / Club Plus account.
This includes:
- Sending out your money-back vouchers and birthday treats
- Keeping you up to date with important news• Telling you about special offers, exclusive discounts and events which form part of your membership
- Helping us make communications and offers more relevant
Membership details and transactional information will only be processed for analysis and research by Dobbies and our trusted research partner. You can contact us at data.protection@dobbies.com to restrict the processing of your personal data to exclude analysis and research at any time.
Please note that if you cancel your Club Plus membership, you will default to a free account, which functions as a point – collecting card. We will continue to process your personal data for the purpose of managing your account with us, and to send you marketing materials (provided you have not opted out) and relevant service information.

- With offers and information about partners’ products or services
- For customer research e.g. to help improve our services
You can unsubscribe to these marketing communications at any time by clicking an unsubscribe link or by updating your contact preferences on the Dobbies website. Please note that if you do inform us that you no longer wish to receive marketing information from us, this will prevent you from receiving offers or promotions that may be of interest to you.
We like to hear your views to help us improve our service. From time to time, we may contact you to ask your opinions. Your participation in our research is optional.
We may disclose your information where it is necessary for us to do so for our business purposes, where we have your consent; where we are required or permitted to do so by law; to other companies who provide a service to us; or any successors in title to our business.
