To get started, you’ll need:
- Leaves of all shapes and sizes
- Card
- Felt tips, coloured pencils or crayons
- Glue
Step 1: Hunt for leaves
- Start by collecting your materials in your garden or on a walk
- Take a bag with you and make sure they’re clean before lifting them
- Look for leaves with a mixture of colours and shapes
Step 2: Prepare your leaves and design
- Your leaves need to be dry before using them, place them on a windowsill to dry out if they’re wet
- Draw the outline of a hedgehog on your card, it will need a body, snout, legs and eyes – make sure you leave lots of space for your spikes
Step 3: Start sticking
- Once your leaves are dry, you can start sticking them onto your hedgehog
- Place them first so that you’re happy with the design
- Then you can colour in the rest of your drawing
- Once dry, you can cut out the outline and hang your leafy hedgehog in your home or somewhere sheltered in your garden
We’d love to see your hedgehog creations.
