To get started, you’ll need:
- Smooth rocks
- Thick paint (acrylic paint works best)
- Paintbrush
- PVA glue
- Mini pots
- Googly eyes
Step 1: Pick the right rocks
- You can use rocks from your garden, or you can collect some on a walk, or at the beach
- Make sure they’re smooth so that they’re easier to paint and that they’ll fit well in your pot
Step 2: Start painting
- Clean your rocks and let them dry
- Then use green paint to cover your rock, leave it to dry
- Once your first layer of paint is dry, use white or black paint to add spikes
Step 3: Add the finishing touches
- To help the paint stay and make your rock shiny, add a layer of PVA glue – make sure you cover the whole rock
- Once the glue is completely dry, you can give your cactus friend a face by adding two googly eyes and a mouth
Step 4: Find a home
- With your cactus ready, you can place it into the pot – it also needs a name!
- Then you can help it find a new home, maybe beside your other houseplants
Don’t forget to share your cactus friends with us in their new homes.
