Why should I recycle?

Pot recycling
Plastic is one of the hardest things to recycle and lots of pots are made from it.
There are lots of things you can use from your own household waste for planting in, such as:
- Tin cans
- Drink bottles
- Glass jars
- Old shoes and wellies
- Some people even use toilets!

Want to recycle in your garden, but don’t know where to start? Try some of these handy ideas.
- Hang some tin cans, old CDs or DVDs on string to deter birds away from fruit and veg
- Use corks to cover the sharp ends of bamboo canes
- Use the bottom of a plastic drink bottle to protect seedlings
- Collect rainwater to water your plants
- Use plastic bottles as seed holders for birds and squirrels
